odd things that happened yesterday:
1. Someone in the drivethrough ahead of me paid for my meal.
2. Someone sent KFC to Abuelita Olga who is in the intensive care unit (and can't eat KFC)

Every work day, when I arrive at my office, I get to say "good morning Sarah!"

G'ma Sandy, The kids say, "thanks for the socks!". They kept their feet warm while we were sledding today!

Girl Scouts Helena Trip

Looks like wonderful fun Merel. For anyone wondering, Paul is Merel's
father, and Mikulas is her brother. And to my understanding, the canals
freezing over is a rare treat, so everyone gets out to skate.

The zoo looks like it was a good time. Payton's face with the big cat is quite
humorous.

Also, I sat on the couch.

End of an all day dance-a-thon!

Went skating today. Only at the lake did I find out that somehow I had my brothers ice skates and since his feet are about three sizes bigger than mine that posed somewhat of a problem. I did about two thirds of our trip on Mikulas' skates, when my feet started to wobble inwards too much. Paul and I then exchanged skates and that was fine for a bit but since his skates were higher and my ankles decided to not do their job properly I started sagging inwards again, but this time it REALLY hurt. We decided that we would get to the pub where we were going to meet some friends. Paul turned around there to get back to the car while I waited for our friends. Paul was nice enough to brave the crowds and the worsening conditions of the ice to get the car and drive it to the pub that our friends and I were sitting at.
On the way we made a few videos:

I filmed this and Paul passes my half way through.

Here you see me almost fall, but not quite. I did fall thrice though, the last one was right onto my tailbone so that hurt quite a bit.

For those interested I also used my gps function on my phone to map our day. The second half was done three times, first we just skated till no longer possible, then turned back, then we found out our friends were in the area as well and would meet us at the first turning point so we turned back again. Paul did the whole distance again to get back to the car.

It happened. I brought my lap top that wasn't working to Eric to see if he could fix it. He plugged it in, reseated the battery and it started right up. (Aaaaarggh!)

My daughter earned herself a spot in the school spelling bee!

Went to the mom's breakfast at the grade school this morning with Lauren, Payton and Michele. I walked home from it so have already had a little exercise. Now I'm making myself tea and enjoying the quiet.

It looks like a wide canal, my other guess would be the "uiterwaarde" the overflowing area of the river, they can sometimes get really big.

Is that a frozen canal? Or a pond?
